Fault code reading
Stored, pending and history codes from every relevant module — not just the engine.
A modern automatic gearbox is run by a computer making thousands of decisions a second — and that computer keeps records. Fault codes, live sensor data, adaptive learning history, every solenoid’s duty cycle. With the right tools, the transmission tells you exactly what it’s doing. With the wrong ones, you’re guessing.
A loose wire on a speed sensor doesn’t leak fluid. A drifting solenoid doesn’t make a noise. Corrupted adaptive learning data doesn’t register on a dipstick. The transmission feels “off” — and a workshop without proper tools starts pulling pans, stripping converters and chasing ghosts.
A professional scan replaces the guesswork. We connect at the OBD port, read every relevant module, watch the live data while the transmission actually runs, and then confirm what we’re seeing against manufacturer specification. Half the “rebuild jobs” we’ve been called in to second-opinion turn out to be a code that takes ten minutes to clear.
A cheap scanner reads codes and clears them. A professional one talks to the modules — commands them, reprograms them, and watches them work. We use the latter.
Stored, pending and history codes from every relevant module — not just the engine.
Real-time sensor values plotted while the engine runs, the car drives, the gearbox shifts.
Snapshot of conditions when a code was set — temp, RPM, gear, throttle — for evidence-based diagnosis.
Command solenoids, fans, locks and actuators directly from the tool to isolate a fault.
Reset adaptive learning, recalibrate clutches after a service, re-learn shift points on rebuilt units.
Read, write and modify module configuration where authorised — needed when replacing a TCM or valve body.
Software updates and flashes for transmission and related control modules where supported.
Diagnose CAN, LIN and K-Line bus issues that cause modules to lose contact with each other.
Our tool set covers OEM-level access for the major manufacturer groups across European, Japanese, Korean, American and Chinese vehicles. If we don’t have it on the shelf, we’ll usually have an answer for it within a day.
Don’t see your make? Call. The list is illustrative, not exhaustive — it changes as the tools update.
The connection is fast; what matters is interpreting the data correctly. We pair every scan with a road test and a written explanation — not just a printout of codes.
